Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University (i.e. Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital) is a comprehensive teaching hospital of the Ministry of Health. Founded in 1937, the hospital was the first large-scale comprehensive Grade III Grade A hospital managed by the Chinese people at that time. It belongs to the National Shanghai Medical College. It was named Sun Yat sen Memorial Hospital to commemorate the pioneer of the Chinese democratic revolution, and then renamed Sun Yat sen Hospital. After liberation, it was called Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Shanghai No. (1) Medical College and Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Medical University. In 2001, its current name was used.
